At SoloFilms, we believe in the power of storytelling. Founded by Dr. Carlos Cordero Cancio, our journey is rooted in resourcefulness, creativity, and a deep understanding of the audiovisual arts. From humble beginnings to becoming Puerto Rico’s trusted video production company, we’ve stayed true to our mission: to provide services done by heart and help our clients shine.
Dr. Cordero Cancio
A Prolific Creative Force and A Master of Creative Expression
Dr. Carlos Cordero Cancio is a prolific creative force, skilled in writing, photography, and film making. He boasts a Ph.D. in Cultural Studies and a master’s degree in political science from the University of Minnesota. Also, he finished a master’s degree in public relations from Universidad del Sagrado Corazón, Puerto Rico. He has also honed his craft through advanced workshops in film script writing and actor’s direction, in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba; and fashion and studio photography in Spéos, Paris.
He was a professor at the Universidad Ana G. Méndez, Gurabo Campus for 14 years. He taught Social Sciences, Humanities, Communications and Cultural Studies courses. Since 2004, he has passionately kept working on the sense and meaning of his artistic expression. Recently, he finished a professional certification on Prácticas filosófico-artísticas y políticas in the GCAS Latin America, Center for Advanced Studies in Dublin, Ireland.
Cordero Cancio's art has been recognized in several exhibitions, including "ATOPÍA: la ventana azul", "Residuals of the Caribbean" at Georgetown University, and "Hiperreal" at the Ana G. Méndez University Museum. In addition to these accolades, he has also published "Fragmentos, Vol. I", and co-authored REMANENTE, a photo and written essay on contemporary Puerto Rican urban spaces. He co-directed the documentaries "Camino a Navarro" and "Geografía de la memoria".
Carlos has directed several music videos and Blanco y Negro, a first short film. Among his intellectual and artistic interests are postcolonialism, power, globalization and the contemporaneity of spectacle and simulation. He is the founder of SoloFilms, where he is creative director, since 2021.
